Counselling can provide a space to explore the patterns and triggers behind anxiety and depression, helping you understand your experiences more clearly. It can equip you with practical strategies to navigate difficult emotions and regain a sense of control in daily life.
Candlewood Counselling: Counselling Services in Newton Abbot & online
Welcome! I’m Samantha. I provide professional counselling services to adults in Newton Abbot, both locally and remotely. Whether you’re struggling to cope with life’s stresses, dealing with a big life transition, or just want somewhere to ‘talk’, my counselling services in Newton Abbot can give you the time and space to pause, reflect and begin to make sense of what’s going on for you.
Fuller details and description of my counselling approach can be found by clicking here, but in summary, I work locally from a centralised location in Newton Abbot, and also offer online counselling via a secure video link.
My style of counselling blends various approaches, from a trauma-informed and person-centred place. I don’t work from a single model, but will draw from different approaches such as Internal Family Systems (IFS), Gestalt, CBT and trauma-informed practices, to create a bespoke blend that feels useful and relevant to you.

Counselling can help with Anxiety and Depression
Counselling for Trauma
Counselling provides a safe space to process and make sense of traumatic experiences, helping reduce the impact of PTSD, anxiety, and other related symptoms. It also supports you in developing coping strategies and reclaiming a sense of stability and inner strength.
Counselling for Life Transitions & Changes
Counselling can help you navigate major life changes, such as illness, retirement, loss of a loved one or a relationship breakdown. It can help you to clarify priorities and manage uncertainty; it also supports in building resilience and offering practical strategies to adapt to the changes in your life.
Helping you heal from your a painful past
Counselling can help you explore how difficult experiences from childhood may still be shaping your thoughts, emotions, and relationships today. Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs) might include neglect, emotional or physical abuse, growing up around conflict or addiction, or feeling unseen, criticised, or unsafe at home. These early experiences can deeply influence how you learn to trust, express yourself, and connect with others.
Through counselling, you can begin to recognise how those early patterns formed, understand the ways you’ve learned to protect yourself, and start building healthier ways of relating — with yourself and those around you.
