Welcome to Candlewood Counselling.
Here I offer professional counselling services in Newton Abbot to adults, either in-person or online. If you’re navigating emotional challenges, life changes, or simply seeking a space to reflect and grow, you’re in the right place. I offer a warm, professional environment where you can pause, explore and begin to understand what’s really going on for you.
I work in-person from a central location in Newton Abbot, but can also meet you online via a secure video call.
My approach brings together different ways of working, grounded in a trauma-informed, person-centred perspective. I draw from approaches such as Internal Family Systems (IFS), Gestalt, CBT, and trauma-focused methods, shaping the sessions around what feels most helpful and relevant to you. Areas I Can Help With
In the section below you’ll find more information about some of the areas or experiences that I can hep with.
Each has its own dedicated page or section on this site where you can learn more:
Low Self-Confidence & Self-Esteem
Counselling can help you identify the beliefs and experiences that undermine your confidence and sense of self-worth. It also supports you in building authentic self-assurance and making choices that reflect your true values.
Difficult Relationships & Domestic Abuse
Whether you’re facing conflict, communication issues, or emotional distance, counselling can help you understand and improve your relationships. Survivors of domestic abuse can find a safe space to begin to heal.
Anxiety and Depression Counselling
Counselling for Trauma
Counselling provides a safe space to process and make sense of traumatic experiences, helping reduce the impact of PTSD, anxiety, and other related symptoms. It also supports you in developing coping strategies and reclaiming a sense of stability and inner strength.
Life Transitions & Changes
Counselling can help you navigate major life changes, such as illness, retirement, loss of a loved one or a relationship breakdown. It can help you to clarify priorities and manage uncertainty; it also supports in building resilience and offering practical strategies to adapt to the changes in your life.
Early Experiences
Counselling can help you explore how difficult experiences from childhood may still be shaping your thoughts, emotions, and relationships today. Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs) might include neglect, emotional or physical abuse, growing up around conflict or addiction, or feeling unseen, criticised, or unsafe at home. These early experiences can deeply influence how you learn to trust, express yourself, and connect with others.
Through counselling, you can begin to recognise how those early patterns formed, understand the ways you’ve learned to protect yourself, and start building healthier ways of relating — with yourself and those around you.
